A TRUE WITCH BOOK 1 – NOW AVAILABLE * fiction * fantasy * paranormal * urban * contemporary
Now residing in Melbourne, Australia, the Grimm family have hunted and killed witches in Europe for centuries and have selectively bred to maintain their magical abilities and deep hatred of witches. For nearly fifty years they sought to destroy the witches, Agatha and May, resulting in deaths and assaults of family members on both sides. Now Agatha has died and bestowed her magical abilities on her estranged granddaughter who has not been raised a witch.
Niamh blossoms from surly teenager into a strong witch in a short time period and must use her newly discovered magic skills to protect herself, friends and family against the Grimm family.
One big family secret could potentially change everything …

A True Witch Book 1 – the idea
I like to write a totally different topic for each book, still keeping within the light fantasy/paranormal type of book that I enjoy writing. So far I have written books on:
– pre-historic human type flying creatures (Viktoria),
– a race of people with super human abilities and senses (The Brays),
– an entity in the night targeting certain people (Fear of the Night),
– a woman who can see violent deaths if standing in the exact location (The Passive Observer),
– a woman living in her ancestral home who channels an ancestor (Babies Garden), and
– a world-wide apocalypse where people walk east into the ocean (Fallen Face).
Hmmmm … what do I write next? Oh, I know, maybe a witch story.
I imagine a real-life witch story to have a tragic history in a country such as Ireland, and to be focused on women. These women must have strong character to have survived through turbulent times, and if they were witches, found a way to survive and flourish.
If one emigrated to Australia, with no family or friends, how would she fare in 1970? Where would she go? What would she do?
What if … there was a family based in the same city (Melbourne) who sought out witches to eliminate?
Being naturally born a true witch, and surviving must only have a small chance of success, hence they being such a minority. If a naturally born true witch had no idea of her ancestry, what an interesting story it would make. Well … I hope so.

L.J. FoxI am from Australia and consider myself a story-teller rather than an author. My primary writing goal is to entertain you, keep you turning those pages not anticipating what will come next, not to mention - the story must involve mystery, death or the unknown.
